Business Building & Operations

For founders who need to build the infrastructure that lets a company grow — and survive.

I have built an organization from the ground up — from the first hire to a 20-person team, from a blank whiteboard to ISO 9001:2008 certification (authoring over 97% of all QMS documentation myself). I know what operational systems need to exist at each stage of growth, what can wait, and what breaks if you ignore it.

I also co-founded HG Solutions in 2025, which means I am actively navigating the same early-stage challenges your founders face today.

What this looks like in practice:

  • Company formation strategy and early-stage operational buildout
  • Scaling frameworks — people, process, and systems
  • ERP implementation guidance (Epicor and similar platforms)
  • Quality Management System design and ISO 9001 certification support
  • Configuration management, change management, and order fulfillment processes
  • Coaching for early-stage founders on the decisions that matter most

Government & Defense Contracting

For companies pursuing DoD, federal agencies, or large prime contractors — the landscape that stops most small businesses cold.

Navigating government contracting is one of the steepest learning curves any founder faces. I have lived every phase of it: SBIR-stage companies, prime contractor relationships with Lockheed Martin, managing an $80M/year multi-center NASA program, and representing a small business in budget negotiations at the federal level.

At Aegisound, we achieved prime contractor status with the DoD and Lockheed Martin for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program and earned the DoD Mentor-Protégé Nunn-Perry Award — recognizing excellence in defense small business performance.

What this looks like in practice:

  • DoD contracting strategy and pathway development
  • SBIR/STTR program guidance
  • Prime contractor and subcontractor relationship navigation
  • Federal program management — budget, schedule, risk, and stakeholder reporting
  • Mentor-Protégé program strategy
  • Prior Secret clearance (reinstatement eligible)

Program & Project Management

For organizations that need rigorous program leadership — on complex, multi-stakeholder programs where the cost of failure is high.

I am a PMP-certified project manager and Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt. My program management experience spans some of the most demanding environments imaginable: multi-center NASA research programs, DoD defense contracts, and commercial product development across defense, aerospace, and automotive sectors.

I help organizations think clearly about risk, build schedules that reflect reality, defend budgets effectively, and communicate progress in ways that build confidence — with boards, investors, government customers, and internal teams.

What this looks like in practice:

  • Program and project management consulting and coaching
  • Risk identification, mitigation planning, and continuous risk management
  • Schedule and budget development and defense
  • Stakeholder communication strategy — executive reporting, board-level updates
  • Lean/Six Sigma process improvement
  • Root cause analysis and corrective action planning

Technical Consulting

For technically-driven organizations that need Ph.D.-level engineering expertise alongside — not instead of — business judgment.

My technical depth is in acoustics, structural vibrations, active noise control, and advanced signal processing. I have applied these disciplines across defense aviation (U.S. Navy flight deck, U.S. Air Force flight line), general aviation (Cessna business jets), commercial audio (Crutchfield Virtual Audio), and NASA research programs.

I am a published author of 11 peer-reviewed journal articles and 46 conference papers, co-author of a Wiley textbook (Adaptive Structures: Dynamics and Control), and named inventor on U.S. Patent No. 5,156,370. My recent work at Crutchfield included designing proprietary algorithms for loudspeaker virtualization, room acoustics characterization, and HRTF-based spatial audio rendering.

Technical domains:

  • Acoustics and structural vibrations
  • Active noise and vibration control
  • Advanced signal processing and DSP systems
  • Spatial audio and psychoacoustics
  • Vibration isolation and seismic mitigation
  • Systems integration — MATLAB, LabVIEW, SQL
  • Anechoic and acoustic measurement systems
